The French Quarter
For nearly twenty years, the art of Richmond Futch Jr. decorated the walls of The French Quarter, a Rochester staple. Richmond passed away on May 10, 2025. The Untitled Creative is honoring his legacy with The Authentic Artist Exhibit.
Richmond was a fine artist, worship painter, muralist and founder of Revelation Rochester, which brought free art workshops to the city’s homeless community. He believed art could make overlooked people visible.
The exhibition pairs works by Richmond and his wife, Shawn Futch, with new original works by Greater Rochester artists.
All mediums are welcome, including painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, film and live performance. We especially welcome art that gives visibility to those with no voices, highlights community and family, or centers on faith. Portraiture is encouraged.
Rochester artists of any level who are inspired by Richmond’s mission, or who resonate with his belief in providing visibility through art.
Up to 3 original artworks per artist: paintings, drawings, mixed media, prints, photography, textile work, sculpture, ceramics or short video work, shown for the full exhibit.
Complete the online application by December 1. Receipt will be confirmed within 3 to 5 days.
